Home kit Apple TV or iPad
What is the oldest version of Apple TV or iPad that will work with HomeKit? I have an Apple gen2 that will not work as it won’t allow me to set up iCloud on it due to apples iCloud changes.

Specifically you need Apple TV4 HD or better to run the current version of tvOS. See iPad models compatible with iPadOS 16 - Apple Support to see which models support iPadOS 16.x. See also Upgrade to the new Home architecture - Apple Support, which contains this detail:
iPad is not supported as a home hub on the new Home architecture.
Realistically you need a suitable Apple TV or a HomePod to run Apple HomeKit accessories.

Ios is for iPhone which doesn’t work as HomeKit hub. I would need an Apple TV (tvOS) or iPad (iPadOS)
