I use the email provided by my server, Shaw.ca. I am not very useful when it comes to problems.

We all have to start somewhere!

My incoming mail works just fine but I am unable to send anything on my iMap.shaw.ca. Version 16.0.

I assume you are using Apple's built-in Mail program rather than a web-based version.

I don't have the knowledge as to where to look and what steps to take. It just tells me unable to send by the provider and to try something else which doesn't work.

Checking the Web I see that these are the settings for iMap.shaw.ca:

To access your email stored with iMap.shaw.ca, you need to use the following server settings:

  • Account Type: IMAP Username:
  • Your Shaw email address without @shaw.ca
  • Password: Your Shaw email password
  • Email address: Your Shaw email address
  • Incoming Server Name: imap.shaw.ca
  • Incoming Server Security Type: SSL
  • Incoming Server Port: 993
  • Outgoing Server Name: mail.shaw.ca
  • Outgoing Server Security Type: TLS (Android), SSL (iOS), STARTTLS
  • Outgoing Server Port: 587

I realise this probably won't mean much to you but it's a good idea the know the answers in case the system asks for them.

Sorry I'm a dummy.

You're not a dummy!!

All that said, you might find just deleting the account in your Mail program (all your eMails should disappear) and then adding it back (they'll all come back) will work.

While I greatly respect your inquiry, providing additional details is essential for addressing the issue comprehensively. The realm of email troubleshooting is quite intricate, and various factors can impede the sending process.

To assist you effectively, could you please furnish more information? Specifically, it would be immensely helpful to know which email provider you're using (e.g., AOL, iCloud, Yahoo, etc.). Additionally, are all your emails failing to send, or is this issue specific to certain recipients or circumstances? Any information about what works and what doesn't, along with any error messages or peculiar behaviors you've observed, would be invaluable.

The more precise and extensive your description, the more equipped we'll be to offer tailored suggestions and solutions. Thank you for your cooperation.
