fonts not loading onto Photoscape X

I'm trying to load paid fonts onto Photoscape and only a select amount of them are actually showing on the program. I've also checked other apps like word and it's a similar situation. My font books shows them as uploaded. Any ideas?

Thank you, Kate. Got the fonts and have looked them over. There is one very minor error in one of the fonts, and even that depends on how you want to look at it. But it's not enough to make any real difference.

Since I couldn't find any notable errors with the build of the fonts, I then simply tried them with a bunch of apps. Photoshop, TextEdit, SoftMaker Office, VivaDesigner and a few others. All of them had access to all of the fonts.

Proof in hand that the fonts behave as I would expect them to, I then opened PhotoScape X. It's not just you. This app does a terrible job accessing fonts. I could choose SP Blunt Outline and Script, but not Regular or Italic. For the other, I could access Vintage Forge Regular, but not Condensed or Script.

In short, there's nothing you can do other than send a message to the author of PhotoScape X and let them know they need to fix their code for font handling.

I certainly wouldn't purchase a font you've already paid for. The odds you'll get the exact same thing is nearly 100%.

My suspicion is the fonts are sharing an identical internal name (conflict). Neither the OS or any app then knows which is which.

If you don't mind, I could take a look at these and see what's going on with the font structures. Email a set to retoucher at jklstudios dot com.

You don't need to worry about me keeping a set for myself. Having been in prepress for over 40 years, I have at least 18,000 purchased fonts I almost never use for myself. They're all to have my own legal copies for working on client projects.

So some are showing, but not others of the same font family?

If so, then that's actually normal for this app. Many apps with font lists do this. You'll see the regular face in the font menu, but not italic or bold, etc., even though you know they're activated.

This app instead takes the lazy approach. If you want use italic, you first choose the regular font you can see in the list. Then click the italic attribute button below the fonts list.

Shouldn't make the slightest difference. But just to make sure, I tried some new OpenType TrueType fonts, and some ancient (really ancient) .ttf fonts from the Windows 3.1 era. Both worked as expected.

What fonts are you trying to activate? That is, do they possibly conflict with those already installed by the OS? And, how are you trying to activate them? Font Book? Some other third party font manager?

Thanks, that makes sense, but in the case of one font family it's loading the italic but not the regular. And in the case of another family, it's uploading the regular but not the script.

Do you think it's possible that both fonts didn't package correctly? The fonts came from a designer that purchased on my behalf when doing work for me. I'm grasping at straws here, but thinking about purchasing again directly and seeing what happens
