cursor issues

just got a new iphone 13 from verizon and im not sure if this issue is normal or not. when i search something on safari and i type that text again to erase it or type more the cursor will sometimes jump to the front of the text instead of the back of it like normal.

running ios 16.6 btw

New iOS 17 - cursor inaccurate, does not let me edit texts and emails Is this happening to everyone? When I am typing a message or email and need to go back to make a correction (often because the new iOS has incorrectly auto-corrected a word) the cursor will not allow precise placement - it simply highlights whatever word is closest to where I placed the cursor, and I must either delete that word, fix the error, then retype in the deleted word, or click around trying to get the cursor to simply land somewhere without highlighting. Long-pressing and moving the cursor manually no longer works, it only highlights the word so I can’t edit it, I can only erase it or copy it. It’s so frustrating and time consuming to type anything!

iPhone text cursor constantly jumps around. I have a iPhone XR & it’s fully up to date w the latest update 17.0.3. My text cursor constantly jumps around and will not stay to the place I move it which has become so frustrating in trying to edit a text message. Even when trying to edit this message it jumps and will not go back to the position I’m dragging it. This actually started w the last update and it’s so annoying and why I’m always very reluctant to update any more. How do I fix this asap? I can’t have business texts go out unedited but the edit process using the cursor is horrible now.

We'll be happy to help! That is to be expected but you can change the behavior by having your iPhone keyboard act more like a trackpad: Type with the onscreen keyboard on iPhone - Apple Support
