If I cancel my music subscription do I loose all my songs? Half of my music was physically download on to my first iPod from CD’s and later transferred to iPhones.

Hello.
In your case, if you stop the Apple Music subscription you will not lose the songs you put on apple music.
However, the music you were listing from the apple music subscription will be removed.
