Are AirTags effective for Vehicle Security despite the risk of thieves locating them? Hi All, I have just purchased a 4 pack of AirTags after watching a YouTube doc regarding vehicle tracking and the removal of the speaker. I know this is messing with the product and probably invalidates the warranty but what is the use of putting these in a vehicle when they tell the thief where they are ? I have watched multiple videos regarding removal of the speaker and have followed them to the book. I have now ruined 2 as they no longer work and do not pick up Bluetooth! Have Apple done something to AirTags to disable them if the speaker is removed ? I am not a stalker, I am just adding another level of security to my vehicle. Thanks in advance for any feedback. AirTag in car, but unable to access it to disable! Recently purchased a used car. Started receiving notification of an “unknown AirTag near me” but when playing the sound am unable to access the AirTag to disable it. Essentially someone is able to track where we live, work, etc. To be clear, this is not our AirTag, and we’re very concerned on how to move forward.

Someone would have to physically remove the AirTag's speaker ... which seems to be something that a nefarious character may resort to, to make it more difficult to find.

If you are seeing the "An AirTag is traveling with you" message on your iPhone while driving your car, then chances are good that AirTag was placed there to track you.

The support article you came here should provide you with what is available to you to try to locate it. If that doesn't help, you will have to physically go looking for it.
