updating to ios 16 issues

I am wanting to update my iPhone to iOS 16. I suffer from update phobia that is fear of updating devices and expecting something to horribly go wrong and something no longer works or something gets replaced or rearranged or even worst case situation when something gets removed or no longer functions. such changes doesn’t go well with my neurodivergence

I sync my iPhone to Mac running Mojave with iTunes 12.9.5 . If I update my iPhone to the

latest iOS 16 would I be able to add my music to iPhone via iTunes 12.9.5 on mojave , sync app files and save photos to my Mac ?

I also heard iOS 16 has battery drain is this true too ?

I am stuck on mojave as some of my art Mac apps won’t work in newer macOS

Will updating to iOS 16 have any issues with my version of iTunes ? The problem with running art apps in a virtual machine is lag from performance not running natively… Apple ending photostream gives more headaches and anxiety . When the worst comes I might have use windows 11 pc and iTunes like I do with my new iPad because it has usb c , my iPhone is an SE second generation

So you can copy your music over to your iOS 16 iPhone in iTunes ?

Were that to not work, there would be umbrage.

Your issue here is going to be with the older and unsupported apps and your efforts to preserve working versions of apps at the expense of maintaining your security, and macOS and all other apps; sooner or later, those old apps going to be your source of trouble.

If you are sharing files between iOS and macOS, that is usually involving iCloud or Airdrop, or might possibly mean running the Mac as a file server (which is supported). iTunes has always been clunky here, at best.

If you want to stay on older versions, stay. That’s your decision. Alas, that is also a decision you will have to revisit as you encounter new blockages and limits and incompatibilities as the rest of the world updates.
