The audio settings on video mode in the camera app on iPhone SE 2020?

I have an iPhone SE. It's brilliant. I record self-tapes for acting work.

Just recently, I have had an audio issue. When I playback, it is easy to notice that my voice 'disappears or mutes'; it's as if the settings have tried to quieten ambient sound and then it detects my voice.

Consequently, the first second or so of my speech is not heard or, at the very least, really quiet.

Can you relate? Can you help, please? Stu

Thanks so much for your response. It is actually the opposite. There is a glitch when I am using video mode on camera app. External audio noises are being suppressed, and I don't want that. It is a recent glitch.

I have found a workaround which is to use the back camera. External audio is not suppressed and therefore when I speak, neither am I.

I will follow your advice and go to an Apple Store

Thanks again

To suppress external audio noises while recording video on an iPhone, you can follow these steps:

  1. Choose a quiet environment for recording your video to minimize background noise. Look for a place with minimal distractions and low ambient noise.
  2. The built-in microphone on an iPhone picks up sound from all directions, including unwanted ambient noise. Consider using an external directional microphone that focuses on capturing audio from a specific direction while reducing background noise. You can connect such microphones to your iPhone through the headphone jack or lightning port, depending on the iPhone model.
  3. If you're using an external microphone, make sure it is positioned close to the sound source you want to capture. This helps in capturing clear audio while reducing background noise.
  4. While recording, avoid unnecessary movements and handling of the iPhone. Unwanted contact with the device can generate noise that interferes with your video's audio quality.
  5. If you're recording outdoors or in a windy environment, using a windscreen or pop filter over the microphone can help reduce wind noise and minimize plosive sounds from your speech.
  6. After recording, you can use video editing software or dedicated audio editing tools to further reduce background noise and enhance the audio quality. These tools often provide noise reduction filters and equalizer options to refine the sound.
  7. You should check if the mic on your iPhone is working properly. To do this, open voice memos on your iPhone and try to record a voice. If it doesn’t work properly, follow each of the below steps one by one try after each step. --> Check Mic with Voice memos
  8. Make sure that the mic of your iPhone is cleaned. Sometimes, tiny dust particles may give rise to blockage of sound while recording videos. To clean the mic on your iPhone, If material is still present, use a soft, lint-free cloth with warm soapy water. Clean the Mic:

If none of this solution has worked for you, then there is a possibility that mic on your iPhone has malfunctioned. Backup all data on your iPhone and take your device to an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider, or contact Apple Support or
