iPad air 4 - grey screen

Hello! This is my daughter's iPad Air 4. Everything appears to be functioning correctly; all buttons and features are responsive. However, there is an issue with the screen—it's displaying a grey color and nothing else.

It could be water damage, but we're not sure. It was raining when our daughter came home from school. From that point on, it started experiencing issues, and it has remained the way it is now.

We are grateful for any solution suggestions.

Does anyone have a solution for this problem? Would replacing the screen be a viable solution?

Your photo' shows an iPad with a screen hardware fault.

You would be best advised to visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to test and assess your iPad - and you can explore your available options for repair, exchange or replacement of the iPad:

Alternatively, you might consider using Apple's mail-in repair service:

Hello,

We visited an Apple authorized store due to water damage, and they informed us that there was nothing they could do. They would send it to Apple, and we were offered a replacement at a price close to that of a new one. Consequently, we purchased an iPad Air 5.

Now, I have the damaged device lying around, and I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile to remove the entire display unit and replace it with a spare one. Do you think this could potentially make it functional again?

Thank you for your effort.

If your iPad has suffered water damage, it is very likely that all of the internal electronics have been damaged - and will be unusable.

iPad's are also not designed for self-repair; Apple will not supply OEM parts outside of its AASP network. Some components, such as the display, are serialised and must be configured to the iPad's logic board using proprietary software that is not available outside of Apple.

In conclusion, self repair will not be possible/viable. As water damage has been diagnosed, the iPad is scrap. Your best action would be to have your damaged iPad responsibly recycled by Apple - which they do without cost to you. Simply hand your damaged iPad to the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store.
