Email addresses not displayed in iCloud Contacts when viewing on icloud.com

I have an iPhone 14 that is connected to my iCloud account-- my Contacts and Calendar are synced.

However, when I access my iCloud Contacts using a web browser (Chrome) on my computer (via www.icloud.com/contacts/), my Contacts do not show an email address. If I go to my phone and look at the Contact the email address is there, but not when using the browser on my computer.

I can make a change to the Contact on my iPhone, and I will see the change on my computer... so I know the systems are talking.

But why is the email address blank when looking at the Contact on my computer?

I see the same issue - contact email addresses are missing on www.icloud.com/contacts/ only. These same contacts are correctly synced across devices and their emails are visible from "Contacts" app on any device or Outlook from the PC.

My troubleshooting shows the issue seems to be related to email address "Label". Open the "Contacts" app and select a problematic contact. Hit "Edit" and scroll down to where email addresses are listed. Select a problematic email and change the blue Label. My problematic contacts have/had a Label "email" which oddly was not in the Custom list. Change this to either "home" or "work" and in a few secs the email address is listed correctly on www.icloud.com/contacts/ again. Hope this is useful.

I don't often use www.icloud.com/contacts/ for updating contacts so I cannot say when this issue showed up or if its just always been this way. Problem could also related to the Outlook connector.

Hey there bvalley1,

We'd like to learn more about what's happening, along with ruling out some other possible causes:

  1. You mentioned syncing Contacts on your iPhone with your Gmail account, but if you have the 'Contacts' option enabled for your Gmail account(under Settings > Contacts > Accounts), are you seeing those email addresses if you log into the Gmail website, then check your contacts from there?
  2. Under Settings > Contacts, do you see an option for 'Default Account'? If yes, let us know which account is set as the default account.
  3. If you have a compatible iPhone model, the latest version is iOS 16.6.1 You can verify this within Settings > General > About. In case you needed it, this link shows how to first back up, then update: Update your iPhone or iPad

Cheers!

Hello bvalley1,

On your iPhone, let's check under the Settings > Contacts > Accounts menu to see if your iPhone is attempting to sync your contacts with any other accounts.

Additionally, do you experience the same behavior when using another browser or computer?

Let us know, and we'll keep moving forward based on those details.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me.

When I go to Settings>Contacts>Accounts, it shows two accounts: my iCloud account and my Gmail account. Under my Gmail account is shows as being "On": Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Notes.

And yes, I have the same issue if I switch to another computer.

What is especially odd is that when viewing a contact on the computer, it displays no email. I can go into "Edit" and then see that there is no email shown for any location (Home, Work, etc.). However, the email addresses are in my phone, and when I have previously synced my Outlook to iCloud and downloaded my Contacts, all the email addresses will appear in Outlook (Office 365).

Thanks for your help.

I have the same issue. I create my contacts in Outlook (Microsoft 365) on my Windows 11 computer and sync them to my iphone and ipad.

All fields created in Outlook appear on my Apple devices but the email addresses of a contact do not appear in icloud.com on the web. So, I know the fields are there, but they are not shown in icloud.com.

Because of a still unresolved bug in the icloud app for Windows I can currently not sync my contacts and calendar to the icloud (the app says that Outlook is not installed on my Windows computer). So, I have to rely on what is available in icloud.com when working on my Windows computer.
