AppleCare Theft claim denied but “Find My” was on

i bought my daughter a new iphone in Dec. ‘22. In May ‘23, it had a green line in the middle of the screen, so she took it to the Apple Store and had it repaired under her AppleCare+ warranty. As instructed by the Apple tech, she turned off Find My Phone during the repair and turned it back on after. Last weekend, her phone was stolen and she was able to report mark it lost. Find My Phone was enabled because we were able to track it for about an hour afterward and have screen shots. She filed a AppleCare theft claim and it was denied - AIG says that Apple informed them that Find My Phone was turned off in May (for the repair) and therefore she’s not covered. She appealed and they denied again. Any advice on how to fix this? I’ve clearly been paying for monthly for the coverage and I repairing a defective phone shouldn’t void the coverage.

It is our right to request the documents used by AIG that they used to deny claim. It is also against privacy laws for apple to have access to our phones activity without us giving them our passwords to access our account although the contract we agree to they can’t have that information except for the day you enter the password for them as they can’t by law store your phones activity I’ve seen it in a case the police tried getting a court order but apple had no records and couldn’t access iCloud accounts of customers that is why it’s in the contract that states customers must allow access but they can only check if find my in on that day because it doesn’t collect that data to store it class action lawsuit no to mention I chose Apple to keep my money in America yet AGI is in the Philippines

The same exact thing just happened to my daughter!! I don’t understand how they are saying that the find my was never enabled when I was able to check her location all day every day. We screenshotted the location as well. It is ridiculous! Brand new phone, one month old and paid for apple care. Extremely disappointed in apple and getting a lawyer. I would rather pay a lawyer than have this continue to happen to people! Find my iPhone was enabled and she even put it in lost mode with a contact number, curious as to how you are able to lock the phone in list of find my is not enabled?!? Total scam. I have apple care for other products and a large family, I will be canceling and getting another insurance plan.

The same thing happened to me i was robbed in front of witnesses who called the police. I was so shocked and completely shaken by the incident I paid for my Apple care with theft was calling apple support to help me everyday and they locked and reported my phone on lost mode.

I think it was the next day my phone appeared again as it was on lost mode i had a window of an hour before it disappeared i called the police gave them my iCloud and pass they told me to leave it with them but did apparently nothing.

I paid the insurance an additional £109 for admin on top of my fully paid apple care +theft. I was assured i was covered by apple support.

A police officer would not need your Apple ID password. Very likely you fell for a "phishing" scam in which the criminals contacted you, pretending to be police officers, so that they could get information needed to clear the Activation Lock, and/or scam you in other ways.

No, I didn't have a phone at that time as it was stolen and was using my friend's phone, so whilst I was on the phone with an Apple support agent, they talked me through the steps to follow and helped me process it, and they said I must put my phone in lost mode.

The phone was switched off with the agents guidance. I got an email from Apple when my phone was switched on which gave me a one-hour window so I called the Police gave them the address where the phone was showing they said they will go but needed my phone details so that they can make sure it's my phone.

I guess they can set the alarm off when at the address but they didn't end up going as they may of had more serious crimes to deal with than knocking on someone's door to pick up my phone.

My phone was lost.... i immediately came home and activated the lost mode from icloud.... i recieved email notifications saying that it was put into lost mode also started to recieve emails notifying me of the phones location... they still say it was NOT on BECAUSE they said when AIG investigated at that time the phone was unable to be located... i explained that a possible reason was that i started to recieve short code texts and request for access from my finacial instituions.... at that time i remotely erased the phone to protect my information....it was then that the phone in my locations went offline... it still to this day shows up in my devices ....apple suoport even said that if it had not have been on it would nit even show up not to mention the emails with loaction i was recieving afterwards saying my phine was lost and giving me addresses as to where the phone was....ive been paying for apple plus loss for years and to know that apple would choose to use any poor excuse to avoid paying an obviously valid claim makes me angry as well as looking at oneplus as possible future soloution..... i cant believe that apple would allow this to happen!!! i will never pay for apple care again and am seriously considering abandoning all my apple products because i feel that i have been lied to all this time while continuing to pay insurance premiums.... when you buy apple care it should seriously come with a disclaimer saying that ..... we will look for any reason to avoid paying a claim..... oh emails from us saying your phine was lost and sending me locations...... hey apple did i for get to say mother may i or give my response in the form of a question..... it must be something that ridiculous because you telling me that emails from apple saying my phone was in lost mode DONT COUNT???? is a joke!!! i am beyond unhappy and will not be satisfied until you honor what you say you stand behind....and if standing behind AIG and allowing this to continue ...... we might as well trust PG&E with our water supply or maybe bernie madoff with our retirment money..... hey how about letting purdue pharma in charge of the FDA OR BETTER YET AIG represent apple for its insurance claims........

Did you ever come to any resolution on this? The same has happened to me this morning - feel sick, and completely cheated. I am able to log into Find My from my Mac and I can clearly see my iPhone still there, just marked as lost. It's in the bottom of the sea somewhere. I have appealed but after doing a quick Google search, I worry it's not going to amount to much!
