Stolen iPhone with no AppleCare+

Recently got my phone snatched out of my hands at a concert, it had FindMy iPhone on but the phone was turned off shortly after being stolen. Hasn't been turned on an no update since. Just got the phone 3 weeks ago so still have the limited warranty from Apple, but not AppleCare+. If I register for AppleCare+ now, even after my phone was stolen, would the Apple Store cover majority of the cost to get a new one?

iPhone 16 Pro Max, iOS 18

That would be insurance fraud and no, your device will not be covered. A police report would be required so on top of insurance fraud you want to add more crimes involving false police reports, lying to police and more.

If purchased with a credit card the card might have a loss provision. If you have homeowners or renters insurance it might be covered. Good luck.
