Some keys are not working with my new Magic keyboard

I wanted to share my recent experience with my Apple Magic Keyboard in case it helps anyone else who might encounter a similar issue. Suddenly, some keys on my keyboard stopped working, and in my case, it was the QWERT keys. This situation led to some initial panic, thinking my computer had been compromised. However, I later discovered that there was a simple solution.

First and foremost, there was no liquid damage involved; my keyboard had been sitting in a drawer for just one day. So, it wasn't a physical issue with the keyboard.

I'm posting this because the answer in another post with the same title seemed somewhat misleading. It recommended redirecting to an article about the SMC Reset, which didn't apply to my situation.

Solution:

All you need to do is press and hold the Option key for a few seconds. This action turns off something called "mouse buttons," which could be the reason behind the keyboard issue. Once I did this, my keyboard started working perfectly again.

I hope this helps anyone facing a similar problem with their Apple Magic Keyboard!

Simply holding the option key did not work on my Mac. My fix was to hit the option key 5 times. This method tuoggle on and off the MOUSE KEYS , the source of the problem. changing mouse keys did not work by using settings. Only using the option key on the keyboard worked.

If you go into the Mouse Key settings, you should be able to permanently turn off the feature which gets Mouse Keys turned on by hitting the option key a few times.
