MAC FREESES

After reinstalling iMac OS (desktop) from time machine after failed upgrade to Big Sur from High Sierra, my Mac freezes from sleep and have to hard reboot every morning. Can this be fixed? I have already run disk utility repair and found no issues, but it still freezes every night after sleep.

Here are a few things you can try:

  1. Disable sleep mode. This is a temporary fix that can help you determine if sleep mode is the cause of the issue. To disable sleep mode, open System Preferences and click on "EnergySaver". Under "Sleep", uncheck the box next to "Put the computer to sleep when it is inactive for".
  2. Reset the SMC. The SMC is a chip on your Mac that controls a variety of system functions, including sleep mode. To reset the SMC, follow these steps:
    1. Turn off your Mac.
    2. Press and hold the Shift, Control, and Option keys, and then press the Power button.
    3. Hold down the keys for 10 seconds, then release them.
    4. Press the Power button to turn on your Mac.
  3. Update your Mac's software. Apple often releases software updates that fix bugs and improve performance. To check for updates, open System Preferences and click on "Software Update". If there are any updates available, install them.
  4. Boot into safe mode. Safe mode is a diagnostic mode that can help you isolate the cause of the issue. To boot into safe mode, hold down the Shift key while you start your Mac.
  5. Reinstall macOS. If you have tried all of the above and the issue is still not fixed, you may need to reinstall macOS. To do this, you will need to create a bootable macOS installer. You can find instructions on how to do this on Apple's website.

If you have tried all of the above and the issue is still not fixed, then you may need to take your Mac to a repair shop.

Here are some additional things to try:

  • Make sure that your Mac is connected to a power source when it is in sleep mode.
  • Try closing any open applications before putting your Mac to sleep.
  • Try creating a new user account and see if the issue persists.

I hope this helps!
