Receiving text messages while e-sim deactivated after reactivating the e-sim?

I’m from the US and recently went on vacation in Europe. I got a European e-sim and deactivated my US e-sim while on vacation because I was paranoid of getting any charges from my phone company. If people sent me text messages while my US e-sim was deactivated will I be able to receive them once now that I’ve reactivated my US e-sim?

I haven’t received any but I know people texted me while I was on vacation. I’ve made sure my iMessage is turned on and that my US phone number is set for sending and receiving messages. I’ve tried turning my phone on and off…. Any more tips I can try???

Generally, No.

Text messages (SMS) are typically stored on the cellular network's servers and will be delivered to your device when it becomes active again.

However, there are a few things to consider: Contact your Carrier and understand how long they store the info)

  1. Timing: Messages sent while your eSIM was deactivated will only be delivered once it is reactivated. There might be a slight delay in receiving these messages.
  2. Message Storage: The duration for which the network stores undelivered messages can vary, so there may be a time limit for how long these messages are stored. It's usually a short period, but it should cover most situations.
