Apple gift card

I got a $500 apple gift card and it says it’s valid, but when I go to use it, it doesn’t work!Any ideas, because it’s been awhile and I’m pat the devastation phase,and now I’m just mildly irritated 😣 Is it Apple support time? Any help would be appreciated Thanks in advance!!!
