M2 Mac Mini and data transfer from PC using Migration Assistant

I have just purchased an M2 Mac Mini and tried to complete transfer from PC in store yesterday. It wasn’t having it partly because we were restricted to in store WIFi. Brought it home and set up Migration Assistant successfully using Ethernet connection for both laptop and Mini. This was at 2pm yesterday. Data transfer commenced but I have now left it almost 24 hours and the indicator of time to complete is now over 900 hours. This seems high. Apple support say persevere but I need my laptop for work tomorrow. Anyone experienced this before? Is there another way? Thanks
