IPad mini 5. mic issue. Please help

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. With the microphone working in apps like Voice Memos and recording video's in the Camera app, it doesn't seem like a hardware issue. When checking the settings for microphone access, were the apps listed and did it show microphone access? If all apps do appear in the the settings and with permission to access the microphone, let's refresh it using these steps:

1. Turn off access to the microphone in settings.
2. Restart your iPad - Apple Support
3. Enable microphone access again.

Test your microphones

1. Open the Camera app.

2. To test the front microphone, record a video of yourself speaking while facing the camera on the front of your iPad. 

3. To test the back microphone, tap the camera chooser  to switch to the back camera. Then record another video of yourself speaking while facing the camera on the back of your iPad.

4. Play back both videos. You should hear your voice clearly in each.

If you find that either the front or back microphones are not functioning, you'll want to have your iPad examined by a technician.

If you find both microphones are working, you'll want to contact the app developer for the app the microphone is not working for.
