Date and time

I’ve recently turned on a apple Mac book air and it seems to be struggling to find the general time of my area and will not reset automatically

Hello Benrowe,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

Congratulations on your new MAcBook Air. We understand that the time isn’t setting automatically as expected. We are happy to help.

Is the date and time incorrect for your region? Does your region appear correctly when opening the Maps app on your Mac?

Are you able to set tine and date manually? Here’s how: Set the date and time manually on your Mac - Apple Support

"Set the date and time manually on your Mac

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, click General  in the sidebar, then click Date & Time on the right. (You may need to scroll down.)
  2. Turn off “Set time and date automatically,” click Set, enter the date and time, then click Set.
  3. Turn off “Set time zone automatically using your current location,” click Set, enter a city in the text field, select the full city name from the list, then click OK".

We recommend the steps here to set the date and time automatically: Set the date and time automatically on your Mac - Apple Support

"Set date and time automatically

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, click General  in the sidebar, then click Date & Time on the right. (You may need to scroll down.)
  2. Turn on “Set time and date automatically,” click Set, then enter a network time server for your region.
  3. Turn on “Set time zone automatically using your current location.”

To choose the formats used to show dates and times in other languages on your Mac, see Change how dates, times, and more display.

You can choose how the time and the date appear in the menu bar. See Change Control Center settings.

Tip: Click the date and time in the menu bar to open Notification Center. See Use Notification Center."

These steps may help. Let us know if you have further questions.

Take care.
