i got a notice that my phone was compromised and being watched, is this possible? i turned the phone off and back on

You probably saw that notification while using Safari and surfing through a website. Yes, that was a scam and the notification was attempting to scam you into some type of a purchase for iPhone protection.

Or worse. Give your credit card or bank account details to "phishing" criminals, and for all you know, they won't be satisfied merely with billing you the normal price for some supposed anti-virus application.


They'll help themselves to much larger amounts.
