Samsung 57" 8k display resets resolutions on wake from sleep (Mac Mini M2 Pro)

I have a S57CG95*N Odyssey Neo G9 57" display and it allows the full 8k (7680 x 2160) resolution after reboot, but when I put my Mac to sleep overnight and wake it up, the maximum resolution is set to 5120 x 1440 and there are no higher resolutions available until I reboot. I'm connecting using the HDMI port.

Is there a known fix for this?

I managed to resolve this completely by purchasing a USB C to DisplayPort 2.1 (40Gbps) cable

Now whenever the machine wakes, it correctly picks up the maximum resolution.

I strongly suspect use of an 8K HDMI 2.1 (48Gbps) cable will also solve the problem.
