Hi vacadoug,

To narrow this down, we suggest creating a new administrator account on your Mac and then signing in there to see if you can replicate the behavior. That will tell you if you have a system-wide issue or if it's user-specific. Here's how to Add a user or group on Mac. After you've created the new user account, log out of yours and into the new one. Once you test in the new user, let us know the results. This will help work out your next best troubleshooting steps.

Have a good day.

Hey there vacadoug,

While we'd be unable to compare other videos/audio that you play on your Mac, we'd like to help look into what's happening within Apple TV+. Let's start with learning more about what's happening, along with ruling out some basics:

  1. We see that you have macOS 13.5 installed, but the latest version is macOS 13.5.2. You can verify this by clicking on the Apple logo at the top left corner of the screen, then on ‘About This Mac’. In case you needed it, this link shows how to first back up, then update: Update macOS on Mac If you already have macOS 13.5.2 installed, sometimes unexpected behavior can be resolved with a restart. Check out the section ‘Restart your Mac' here: Shut down or restart your Mac
  2. Are you using the built-in speaker on your Mac, or are you using an external audio output?
  3. Are you still able to hear things clearly when playing a video in Apple TV+, or is the sound so low that you're unable o make out any words clearly(such as dialogue occurring in the video)? The more details you provide, the better we'll understand what's happening.

Cheers!

My iMac is updated to Ventura 13.5.2 as I always keep all my Mac devices updated. ie: Am watching "Foundation" on Apple TV+ using the M1 iMac's internal speakers. but am straining to hear dialogue at times. Have volume to max on TV+ as well as in general system settings. If I watch news clips or uTube on Safari can hear the dialogue across the room! My ATT WIFI is fine as can use it on my MacBook Pro at the other end of the house. There is nothing wrong with the iMac's internal speakers: except for the sound issue on Apple TV+ whether am watching "Foundation", "Acapulco", "Hijack"or any other Apple+ productions. My first Mac was the beige box Apple II so am not a stranger to Apple (also a stockholder). Same issue on my MacBook Pro -- sound level turned to maximum in system settings and Apple TV:+ is too low -- and it has brand-new speakers.
