Macbook stuck on start up screen after Ventura upgrade

Attempted the Ventura upgrade earlier. Now my MacBook is stuck on the start up screen with the bar progressing no more that 2 thirds. Whilst also overheating. Very concerned as I need to access crucial work asap.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.5

Try booting into Safe Mode to see if that will allow you to finish logging in. If so & rebooting normally still has the issue, then it most likely means you have an issue with some third party software which loads automatically during boot or login.
