I am trying to add my Citi CC to my wallet and it wants a verification code from Apple. I did not get one.

Your bank has to verify your account. Apple is not a bank and has no access to your Citibank account.

The frequent cause of your issue is the banks Apple Pay verification is either the bank or the third party they use for verification does not have your current contact information.

That’s not universally true. I have cards from Citi, Chase and AmEx and I added all of them myself. Some banks permit pushing their card to Apple Wallet by choosing that option on the banks website or mobile app. Banks can push updated information when the expiration date and/or CVV changes. If the account number changes, the card must be added again.

You can ask Citibank mobile to add your card to various digital wallets by clicking “services” at the bottom !! That includes Apple Pay, but it doesn’t necessarily work if there are other verification issues!! Good thing about this approach is it knows therefore doesn’t ask for the information!! So no misclicks!!

Not the case at all. Chase and Amex add their cards to Apple Wallet the second you get a new one without you having to go back into the Wallet. Citi has had my number for a month and the number shows up when you request the verification code within Wallet. This is a Citi-specific issue.

Fair on it not being universally true. However, if you lose your Amex or Chase card and file to receive a new one, it will automatically update your Apple Pay with the new card number before you ever receive the new one. Completely different card number, not just the same one with a different expiration or CVV.

Citi is proving to be tougher to add to the wallet than Chase or Amex, in my experience.

You can’t even request to add it to Apple wallet through the citi app, right? You have to go to the browser.

Generally, if you report a damaged card, the account number is unchanged. However, a lost or stolen card is another matter and in my experience it isn’t pushed from the bank side, as a security measure. Some banks may do it as a curtesy for better customers as a convenience. Generally, banks will only send the replacement card to the address of record and wait for delivery and adding of new card from customer side as a security and safety issue.
