Translate app on iPhone no longer works after recent software update

You can’t install Google play stuff on Apple devices, only apps you get from apple’s App Store.

this app has been like this since beginning of 2023 and it happens on both of my iphones a 14 and a XR. I don’t even know why apple haven’t do anything to fix the issue, is ridiculous and embarrasing that i have to use Google Translate on my iphone devices over this issue.

I use it to read in French and now for French it only offers “Transcribe only”. What the **** is the use of a translation app that just reproduces the word without translating it?? I tried downloading the language but it’s made no difference. Utterly mystified and very frustrated. The app is now useless to me. I don’t get it.

To that solution you should add reset the network settings, apparently there is a problem sometimes with the network setting

I tried all 4 suggestions and still does not work. The languages don't save for some reason after they are selected on the Translation App.

Thank you for that information. Which specific iOS version are you currently running? Go to Settings > General > About for the version. Let's check the storage available for the device currently. Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage.

If you connect to a different Wi-Fi or cellular network, does the issue persist?

I’m having the same issue. It used to work on my iPhone 14 Plus but all I get now is rubbish like “No”’ “Oh” but not what I said. Translate works well on my 4th Generation iPad. Was it the 17.4.1 update?

I tried steps 1 - 4 again. Again all I've gotten as responses are "No" ,"Oh". My iPhone 14 Plus is running 17.4.1. It used to work then didn't. It does work on my iPad 6th Gen. BTW it does translate when I write but not speak. What's up with this?

You need to contact the people who make that app. This forum is for Apple products. Try Google Translate instead.

What worked for me:

1. Delete the app
2. Reset Network Setting
3. Redownload app
4. Redownload languages

It’s literally just started working ! Apple updates some people have no problems others a lot lol

Apple translator app just stopped working last week for some reason. I updated to iOS 16.7.2. Works fine on iPad, but will not do any translations or mic access on iPhone 12.
