You can use as many Apple Pencils as you wish - but only one Pencil can be paired with an iPad at a time. As such, you may encounter a problem if you are attempting to charge a Pencil from the iPad; connecting to charge triggers the pairing process.
In practice, attempting to use multiple Pencils with a single iPad may be impractical.
If you have an iPad that supports a second generation Pencil, you should keep the Pencil docked with the host iPad whenever it is not being actively used - as this will keep the Pencil optimally charged and ready for use when needed.
