Battery Capacity Already at 87%

My just over 1 year old iPhone 13 Mini battery capacity is already down to 87% and will no longer make it through the day unless I charge it in the car to and from work, and even then It still doesn’t make it sometimes. I don’t remember any of my previous iPhones dropping capacity so quickly, and my usage hasn’t changed. My last phone was an 11 Pro that I had for 2 years and was 90% when I traded for the Mini. Is this normal these days or what? I really don’t like the larger phones, although the larger battery was nice to never worry about making it through the day. I’d love to have the USB-C on the 15 since I have been very annoyed about the iPad being a different cord since I got it but, man, I really like the size of the Mini. I think it’s BS that I should be considering getting rid of this phone after only a year because of the battery or paying to have the battery replaced on a phone that just went out of warranty 2 weeks ago.

On average, an iPhone battery will lose 1% capacity per month, though not necessarily in a strictly linear manner. So, your phone is a little ahead of that, but not much. Apple considers the battery fit for use as long as it's above 80% and there is nothing else wrong with it.

You can certainly contact Apple and have them run diagnostics to see if there are any other problems with the battery.

The measure of battery health deterioration/drainage is subjective and can vary depending on individual usage patterns. There is no universal standard to determine whether the battery health deterioration/drainage is normal or abnormal because it heavily relies on how the battery is used and maintained.
