Random lines on screen and non-responsive keys

MbPro laptop 2023 putting random boxes on screen and not responding to arrow keys, occasionally other keys. ???

Note red ellipses,

Box around list

Box around "unread" dot

Click-select does not work right and up/down keys don't work in list(s)

never there before this round of bugs

Can work around, but similar issues in other workspaces. Mail is the worst.

Please post the picture here using the "Image Insertion" tool located on the forum's editing toolbar. I'm not going to visit an unknown website to look at a picture when the picture can be included inline here.

MORE: Can one reset keyboard driver to factory spec without wiping all the other settings? BTW this also affects the trackpad but that's harder to describe.
