I want to back up my iPhone

I have a new computer. I have stated that I trust this device, on both the computer and my iphone. I loaded itunes and made sure that both my phone and itunes are running the latest versions. I have tried turning off both computer and phone for an extended period. My device is recognized by the correct name when I connect it to computer and itunes. However, when I click on the device icon and wish to back up my iphone the button to do so remains grey and I cannot start the back up. What else can I try? Perhaps a different cord to the computer? Although it did recognize my device properly in itunes. Please help. I would like to get my phone backed up asap.

I had this same issue awhile back when using a lightning to usb C cord. It would recognize the iPhone but option to backup was greyed out. I tried a different cord ( lightning to usb A) and the option was no longer greyed out allowing me to back up the iPhone. No clue why this made any difference. Running win 11 on laptop and iPhone is 13 pro with ios 16.

Shoot I sure wish I could say that worked for me too. I even switched out my new usb A for an older one, just in case the new one was defective or too weak. I noticed that the ports on my new computer are upside down compared to any other device or accessory I have. I'm fairly sure that is irrelevant, but hey, perhaps it's the reason. Thank you for your help. I will keep trying various methods and things.

Cheers.
