i plan to travell around australia early next year, and i have found that the internet outside of the major citys is terrible to non existant. so i am hoping that i can download all my itune movies on to a Hard drive to view thru the apple tv box on my caravan tv, is this possible ?
The Apple TV box wants streaming content over the network connection. You could stream locally (in-camper network), but that might still invoke an internet authorization check, since you are streaming to a different device than used for the download. The most reliable is viewing on the same device that was used to download, as that has automatic authorization.

Yes thankyou for your reply. The problem also is that the iPad I have isn’t big enough, to store all of our movie collection. So what I would like to do is attached a large capacity hard drive to my iPad, with the movies installed on the hard drive to watch on the iPad and mirror to the tv. Is this possible, out in the middle of Australia their is no internet at all so I would need to install on a hard drive, and then plug in to an iPad.
