Still cannot share AirTag

Seems to be the same for all. No information on whether it just needs a server update on Apple's side that could appear anytime or if it will be a dot update to the OS in the near future. I'm guessing a server side issue that would be resolved, since the errors seem to be more of a validation response from a server. We may have to give it a day or so to let the servers catch up with the demand.

All I did to share my wife’s AirTag with me was add it in the Find My app. It gave me a list of contacts, I selected her and it added it once I accepted it on my phone. It did not work the other way when I tried to share my AirTags with her phone.

I was able to share a tag BUT it remains in the ‘Pending’ state. Where in heavens does the person accept the pending invite? Apple has given us a long awaited feature but it remains half-baked. I am in Spain and maybe it’s a question of waiting for the feature to go live. Who knows?!

My wife was able to share hers with me but I could not share mine with hers. The message said her phone number was not eligible for sharing. Both iPhones were updated to iOS 17 at the time.

I assume that in order to share AirTags the IOS version has to be v17 or later. Do the AirTags have to be updated too?

That worked for me. It would not work when I tried sharing with my wife from my contacts. I had to type her number without the country code.

Thank you. I made wife a new contact added only area code and numbers not the +1. AirTags all added. One came up as an error re did after 30 seconds worked.

Editing my contact seems to have done the trick. I removed the country code an it allowed me to invite via phone number AND email addresses which were previously blocked from invitation.

Burning 🔥 Question: Do all phones need to be updated to IOS version has to be v17 in order to share AirTags?
