iOS 17 wallpapers blurry at top

Hi I updated to iOS 17 yesterday and my wallpapers are getting blurred on the top, my wallpapers from the top seem to be fine yet but I found beautiful new wallpapers and it’s ruined because of the top blur. My phone is an iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Apple, this feature is so freaking annoying!!! i want to be able to see my whole wallpaper and this new feature makes it impossible for it to look good or aesthetic. i either have to zoom in so close that the image is blurry and cuts out the best parts, or i have to have this hideous blur at the top that also cuts out the best parts. PLEASE change this or at least make it an option to turn it on and off. i swear you guys always add these nonsense features that don’t make any sense. ever heard of the saying “don’t fix it if it ain’t broke”?????? please fix this. it makes me wish i never updated my phone to ios 17. from the looks of it, many other people hate the feature too. give the people what they want!

I just had the same issue, but i think i may know why this is. the wallpapers i had before updating never really fit to scale for wallpaper, so i could never zoom out to fit the whole thing, i think they somehow added a bit imaginative space to fill out what needs be to make it fit to scale when zoomed out to most, if you get what i mean. i also notice that if they are faces (or if can be recognised as such) they wont actually get blurred.

Yes, of course. But you are responding to my first post made on September 21st, like the day after iOS 17 was released and the subject of this thread is iOS Wallpaper, when it should have been iOS Lock Screen Wallpaper. Several pages later and more than 3 weeks, we now know this is about Lock Screen Wallpaper. Maybe check the date of a post before you decide to criticize it.

Amazing that this keeps happening without them fixing it.

I'm getting tired... I can see the quality of the products declining... the other day I had to restart the iPhone because the calling app kept closing...

I have a feeling that in a few months my iPhone might end up in a second-hand store...

It's just a wallpaper!

None of the suggestions work unfortunately, the crop/wallpaper doesn't fix the issue, the turn off blur doesn't work as well and the issue is while all the photos fit perfectly on the screen and are great wallpapers, the blurring happenes when you zoom out, not when you zoom in. So...for me it's a bug and I have already given my feedback, hopefully "To fix such issues Apple should do another stability improvement in iOS 17 in next release"

This does not work on all images, so your solution, while helpful in some situations is not a viable end all solution

It needs to be fixed by Apple as this is a very basic design flaw which is ruining almost every users iPhone experience on devices which they have paid literally hundreds if not a thousand dollars or more on.

Its garbage design and needs to be fixed immediately.

This discussion is user to user only. You have to go make the complaint to Apple's own report a problem. They don't use this as a complaint center unfortunately. I will say however, reading your thoughts on the matter, why not simply allow the time and all to go the opposite color of the background? I've seen the text change colors when I open arm app from black to white, so what's the difference?

Same thing here. I have a slideshow of pics that change every hour on my 14 pro max. It was perfect… now, after the update, it’s all whacked out. It look as good with the top portion blurred out. Especially when it’s a face. Just give us the option to turn it off Apple

(yes I read the other comments and no you cannot turn it off on Home Screen slideshow)

The only way I was able to “fix” it was if you click on the photo, hit edit as if you were going to edit your photo & zoom out from there (the background will be black) and I screenshot my photo with the edit options but I then crop it out on my screenshot. So then after that, I use the screenshot copy for my wallpaper . It will have the black top & bottom but it’s better than blurry. Hope it helps.
