StandBy mode: why does my screen turn off after 30 seconds even when Always On is active?

I'm glad you understand. I don't think the stand is the issue because this problem will likely occur when the phone is attached to a wire. At some point, it enters "trickle charge" mode and perhaps even stops charging. I don't have any way to verify, so hopefully Apple will see these posts and investigate. The Support staff are unaware.

Have you tried wired charging as opposed to using MgSafe charging as a final test?

I have the same issue with my iPhone 15 Pro on my MagSafe charger and it's incredibly irritating as the stand is more than an arms length away.

Note, Bob and I are talking about how standby mode works perfectly, EXCEPT, the screen goes dark several times a night needed a tap to "wake" to return to the standby display despite the "always on" setting.

I have the same problem. I have the Anker 533 3 in 1. it has a dedicated power cable and power supply. But the cable is USB A to C. So are you saying that that difference is a "traditional transformer" with barrel connector?

I have an iPhone15, not pro. The welcome email from Apple knew what model I have, and that same email advertises the benefits of StandBy mode. The only caveat is that it says "stand sold separately". Does that mean only Apple stands will enable the mode properly for wireless charging?

Any MagSafe or Qi charger will work - you just need one that will hold your phone in landscape mode.

Or get a simple stand that holds your phone in landscape mode while you charge it with a wire.

But with a non-Pro iPhone 15, you have to "wake the display" to see ,for example, the clock when in standby mode.

With Pro models the standby display can "always on".

I've read the thread. I think I've followed the suggestions. Even with Low Power turned off, and Focus turned off, is there a technical reason the 15's screen turns off after 20 to 30 seconds, (versus a 15 Pro)?

Hi @Bob Patin1. I have the same issue with a new night stand 3 in 1 charger. Every night so far (had it 3 days) the phone will go blank and a touch wakes the screen up to the red stand by mode. Prior to the 3in1 i was using a cable and simple landscape holder and the phone never went dark.

I have been looking at the battery charging stats, especially the battery level over the past 24 hours. There are some interesting indications of 'pause' and 'charging' on that chart. I am convinced your theory is correct, and I will be looking at the times as much as I can to see if the charging pause (as indicated by the battery graph) is related to the screen blank.

Note that non-Pro variants of iPhone do not have the "Always On" option in settings. I think it has got something to do with the advanced LTPO displays available in the Pro variants.

I haven’t had low power mode enabled, and my phone almost always goes dark during the night.

Sometimes it works; last night it worked fine, but we’ll see what tonight brings. Not optimistic.

So, we are almost in 2025 and no solutions yet? Shame!
