AirTag sharing not working iOS 17

I could not get them to share with one individual. What worked for me was reseting the network settings on my iPhone. I tried all other resolutions to no avail, but the network reset did the trick!.

Settings > general > transfer or reset iPhone > reset > reset network settings

I’ve just had the same issue, and followed some of the advice here to no avail. It just doesn’t seem to like my SO’s phone number, but I noticed that her contact didn’t have her email in it. I removed some dross and added her email address, and tried again.

First time I used the phone number and it wouldn’t have it, but when I used the email address to share it, it worked first time.

The message there is to check the data you hold for the contact you hope to share items with.

This kind of worked for me, followed the steps till i came to the desired contact, tried to add with existing phone number and nothing happened. Noticed that the contact had no email added, so added that and tried sharing again, this time to the added email, and it worked.

Had the issue that whenever I tried to share the AirTag I got the "Find My Unavailable - Try Later" message. What did the trick for me was resetting network settings on both my and my wife's iPhone, plus turning "Find My Network" off and on again in 'Settings > Apple-ID > Find My > Find My iPhone'

I had this issue as well. Removing the Air Tag from my account and re-adding it didn't help. When I removed it from my account and added it to my wife's account, she was able to share it with me.

I found that I needed to install 17.0.2 on both iPhone 14Pro phones, then reinstall the AirTag and then sharing worked.

Update. After an hour with apple tech support, resetting the network settings in both phones worked.!

FINALLY got this fixed!! The only thing that worked for me was going to General-Transer/Reset Phone-Reset-Reset Network Settings. After the Reset, my phone is finally able to share AirTags with my wife's phone.

Just did tech support, AirTag needs to be reset by removing and replacing the battery four times. After that the AirTag worked on my phone and my wife’s!

I had the same problem. Use your icloud e-mail adres. It works.

This only thing that works is to remove the airtags from all iPhones, then add it again. Then works as expected.

Yeah now it works - after that I remembered I need to upgrade watch also :)

I have had the same problems as others. Solved it by removing tag from my find my and added it to husbands find my and added me to it. My husband is the lead phone and mine is an add on, he also pays bill, is this the reason why?

I'm having the same problem. I shared 4 air tags each from my wife's phone to my phone, and they have all disappeared. I stopped sharing of all the airtags, and re-shared them one by one - and they re-appeared!

However, three hours later they have disappeared again. She has an iPhone 15 Pro Max running 17.3 and I have an iPhone 14 Pro running 17.3

I also tried fresh Panasonic brand batteries in the Airtags - didn't help
