FaceTime video recording not working

This was happening to me and I looked it up, it says both you and the other person must be running iOS 17/iPadOS 17 or higher

Were you able to fix the problem? I just did. I found something on Google that told me to go to settings. Go to FaceTime. Turn FaceTime off. Then restart your phone. Go back to settings , FaceTime and turn it back on. My issue was that I didn’t get to option to record a video message. But once I did this it works now. So maybe try that and see if it will help.

Make sure the person you’re trying to leave a video message for does not have a 1 in front of your number example 1 (808) 123-4567. Remove the leading 1 and it should work. Hope that helps

To my understanding, the person who you are trying to FaceTime also has to have the update on their phone. So if who you're calling hasn't installed the update, you won't be able to leave a message.

Go to settings, then FaceTime. Turn off FaceTime then turn it back on. It should work after that

so I figured it out! I don’t know if it’s the same problem for everyone else but mine wasn’t working either then my friend said he still had to update his phone. Once he updated his phone it worked. I believe you just aren’t able to send it to someone whose phone is an updated because they won’t be able to see it.

They have to have the current update 17 version for it to work.

Do reset all settings, you will get them back.

Yeah the button is frozen. Doesn’t do anything. You can just record a video and text it. But this should be a simple integration fix.

Same kinda here, after my friend dont respond to my FT Video call (28.09.2023, iOS17.0.2 is officially out, its not beta or anything) i can record video message, but as soon i click stop recording, nothing happens, timer on top stops counting and thats it, dead end….

No. I tried switching facetime off, and back on. I made sure my software was completely up to date. I ensured my recipient's phone number did not have a 1 in front of it. I restarted my phone. I tried turning FaceTime off and back on again, since that's the number one suggestion. I ensured that the person I was attempting to message was also completely updated with iOS 17. None of these fixes have helped me. I still cannot record a message to save my life.
