iOS 17 Default Notification Sound has changed

When I went back into my app settings it had switched app refresh back ‘on’, do yourself a favor and turn ‘off’ background refresh on all your apps it drains your battery it searches for new updates to that app in the background it does this several times per day and also uses data so if you’re on a data plan it will use it up quickly.

Thank you. 17.2 must have switched on many apps refresh that I had them off all along. I know that iOS 17 also removed personal emojis which I don’t care as much. Not sure what else we have to discover.

I hate the new notifications sound. It’s too noisy and interruptive. I don’t understand how you can change this for customers and not allow us to configure it to use the old sound in our preferences. What is Apple doing to fix this for customers?

Well done Apple for resolving this issue! I wasn't hearing notifications from apps such as Nest and Tapo which is important for my home security. I did submit a bug report a while back so it looks like they took the matter seriously.

Updating to iOS 17.2.1 now!

Please quick messing everything up with these new updates. I have notifications tones for certain people and you did away with a lot of them. My daughter text me several times and got zero notifications. Not a notice or a new notification sound. What if it had been an emergency, I wouldn’t even have known she texted me. Please bring all the old notifications tones back. My phone and iPad have also been acting strange since the new update. Why all these updates. Seems like a new one every other day. Just quit!!!!!

Now all of my alerts have the exact same sound. This is so frustrating. I can’t change me email sound back to my original setting without changing every other alert on my iPhone to the same sound. I hate Apple.

I have hearing aids but as any one knows, I don’t have them in while sleeping…I could Not, for the life of me figure out why

I would sleep through my alarm of the morning and through the day as well UNTIL I was actually awake when it sounded through the day. It’s NO WONDER why I slept through the alarm…. I CAN BARELY HEAR THE “Radial” alert (default on alarms now) WITH my hearing aids!

PUT THE DEFAULT BACK TO “RADAR” WHY WOULD APPLE CHANGE THINGS LIKE THIS-NOT ONLY DUE TO THE HARD HEARING-BUT AS WELL, as a persons brain is “trained” for sounds especially after such a long time.

I have always have Siri set my alarms for convenience and don’t even have to touch the phone.

i DISLIKE the new iOS with passion. I can’t change notifications sounds anymore and all my notifications sound like the phone is hanging up. It’s so annoying as I also like to know what app the notification sound I set for is notifying me. This is one of the worst updates by Apple. 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾 big thumbs down

Yes. Check your Screen Brightness level after any upgrade. Go To: Settings > Display & Brightness > brightness slider-bar.

After the most recent upgrade, Mine was set to something like 2/3's to the right... I pushed back down to about 40% or so. Seems to have helped a good bit...

I am in Australia & we have only just downloaded IOS17, have now logged this issue with Apple & asked to escalate. Let’s hope it is fixed soon

Yes this is a serious problem which needs to be fixed by Apple as people’s safety is at risk.

Huge problem. Needs to be addressed. This change makes no sense nor does the fact that it can’t be changed by the user.

It doesn’t work. You can try to change the email tone back to what you want but it doesn’t work
