iOS 17 Default Notification Sound has changed

Warning I was informed they don’t monitor this community! But trust me it has ears, my very negative opinions were quickly removed from here earlier! Don’t mention lawyers, other phone makers, insects invading your devices, or the color Red! Or your speech will be censored!! Fair warning to you all!

yes, I too had a similar scenario occur. It's probably monitored by an AI bot but Apple doesn't seem to appreciate that type of chatter when Apple (the developers) decide to go off the rails and upend the routines of loyal consumers who have come to rely on Apple's products and historic behaviors for decades. Yes DECADES

If Apple is not reading this then there's no point in complaining on here. I can't rely on my iPad anymore for notifications and it will make me think twice from ever doing major updates again. My phone is an Android and that I can change the sounds on any app I want. Apple will just keep being Apple and change it again whenever they feel like it.

Amen. Same for me using ADT security cameras which utilize the IOS default notification tone. Rebound is NOT EFFECTIVE for many many many reasons including careers and human safety! Come on Apple. As a former application engineer, this is a two minute fix. Get it done!

I find this Rebound sound extremely annoying. And agreed, I now never know what notification I’m getting without having to look at the phone, that is if I manage to hear it. Apple must allow users to set their own alert sounds.

Would never have thought Apple could be so arrogant to change the default notification sound without using at least one brain cell to consider what it’s customers thought about notification sound changes!

I one hundred percent agree, and to all of you that say a fix is coming with a new update I pray you are right and no more insects invade our phones in another way! I never thought that something like this would happen to start with

This is definitely a problem for any of us that need a clearer / louder alert tone. I use mine for home security and now I can barely hear it with the Rebound default. Hopefully Apple will realize they are putting us in jeopardy and are liable if anything happens.

Am I the only person who is fed up with Apple making changes to settings on my iPhone when they release a new upgrade? This has been going on for years now. It’s one thing to offer it as a feature but just forcing it on us is unacceptable when it has no bearing on the security or operation of the phone.

Ipad. New default sound is dreadful. Giant step backwards.

The only positive thing about the new sound is that my dogs won’t be barking when they hear the nest door camera notifications, because they can’t hear them, nor can I. It’s what the heck was that???

Why on earth can’t we *select* notifications *per app*. That would be a game changer. I’d gladly give up a camera for that.

Why did Apple change the Ringtones for my iphone. I have used the Doorbell ringtone for 5 years, it is no longer available for text messages. The new ringtones are too quiet - especially if you are not actually holding your phone. Bring the old tri-tones back.

I told him what are they going to do when people’s houses get broken into and they come after them??? No response! This may vanish too !

I have the same issue. I rely on hearing the tri tone for jobs and now I have missed several jobs because of this ridiculous arbitrary change. If it isn’t fixed I will be looking elsewhere for a better device.

Since Apple updated the Apple Support Community, there is now no mechanism to mark a thread as solved. An individual post can be upvoted or downvoted - but not marked as helpful of solved. Go figure.

I changed it to Tri-tone, but the doorbell sound is not listed under "Classic" for text messages. It is there for a Ringtone choice but not Text Messages. I have used the Doorbell for texts for 5 years. It's loud and easy to hear if you are not next to your phone.
