How to enable always-on for Standby on iPhone
iOS17 standby mode is excellent. how do i enable standby mode to remain “always-on” instead closing after a few seconds?

You need a phone that supports Always On Display. That would be the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max and the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. Do you have one of those phones?

Check Settings -> StandBy -> Display. One option turns it off after 20 seconds, one if the room seems "dark", and one never. (Obviously you need an iPhone which supports this feature, and a recent iOS version that does)
