Can you back up a lost 6s iPhone? Someone has it and it is in another state. I want to back up the phone before I erase everything. Also, if I erase the phone, will it erase everything on my iPad since they share the same cloud id?

There is no way to remotely back it up.
Erasing the iPhone via Find My will not affect any other device even if it us using the same Apple ID.
