IOS17 Standby Mode will only display Cupertino time on the main screen but subsequent screens display correct time.

I have gone to settings and made sure my time was set to automatic. I then went to the Clock widget and deleted all the clocks except Chicago as we are on Central time. Nothing works to change the main clock and I notice even this post, which I am writing in my iPad running IOS17 as well, is listing the time of the posting as Cupertino time. However, when I scroll through the clocks, the rest of them display the correct time. I think Apple is going to have to upload a fix unless someone has thought of the solution. This is mainly just an annoyance as it is not difficult to scroll and the rest of IOS 17 is wonderful. This is the only glitch I have found. Pretty darned good considering the size of this upgrade. Incredible job by the entire team.

If you're using one of the City clock widgets, you need to tap on it (in the add widgets view). It will flip around and you can select a different city. By default, the City clock widget (like Weather) is set to Cupertino.

You press and hold on the widget screen. Delete all of the clock widgets from your screen, including the one for your city. Tap the "+" in the upper left corner of the screen. Swipe down to "Clock". The first widget in the list is called "Clock 1". After that is "Clock II" and "Clock III". Any of those will work.

I have an iPad. Sounds like you’re telling me this annoying bug can’t be fixed.

I'm telling you you don't have the issue that this thread is about - a problem with the widgets in Standby. iPads don't have Standby so I'm really not sure what exactly you're talking about. I think, rather than posting here in the iPhone forums, you should start your own thread in the iPad forum. I think it will be easier for people to help you there.

Brilliant - this has been bugging me for a while!! I want to edit yours just a bit:

  1. Hold your thumb on the clock until you feel the haptic and see the graphic change to edit mode with the wiggling widgets.
  2. Tap on the center of the wiggling clock widget.
  3. The graphic will rotate to reveal the city you are seeing the time for.
  4. Change the city in the field.
  5. Click anywhere to exit.
  6. Click done.

I have no idea how to remove “City clock”; instead removed all clocks except the one for where I live, and still see CUP on my Lock Screen. This is an extremely annoying and unnecessary problem. Why would Apple think I want anything other than my local time on my Lock Screen? Local should be the default. Period. I have F$#&’d with this for about ten minutes and still haven’t figured it out. Enough time wasted…..

Still can’t figure this out. My widgets screen does not appear to include a clock. So, I added one with my local time but CUP still shows up on the Lock Screen. How do I access the widget screen that you mention? If I press and hold screen while iPad is locked, nothing happens.

I'm very confused by your post. Do you have an iPad? Or an iPhone? Standby is not a feature of the iPad.
