AirPrint not working after iOS 17 Update

AirPrint was working on ios16 using a Canon printer connected to my home WiFi. I recently updated to ios17 and the printer shows up as an available printer but shortly disappears after selecting it. I am able to print on iPad os 16 and my MacBook Air on Ventura using AirPrint. I’ve reset network setting on both router iPhone and printer and I am still encountering same behavior. Does anyone have any idea on how to fix it or if it is a known bug in ios17? I’ve also restarted my phone and tested it on my partners iPhone which shows same behavior on ios17.

I have the same issue with Canon MF240 and no security software installed on my iPhone and iPad. Just updated to iOS 17.0.1 . The printer name shows up for a while and then disappears! I can print from my computer. I didn’t have this issue until before updating to iOS 17. Please fix this problem, it’s really annoying.

Thank you! I had been using my Canon Image Class 264DW to print from my Apple devices ((Ipad9, Ipad Pro, and Apple SE phone) for a couple of years and all worked well until several months ago, when the Canon printer disappeared from the print screen. I was unable to fix the problem and thought it was an ios update as some people suspected, except that my husband’s Epson XP7100 continued to work fine. I didn’t realize that a firmware upgrade could be done through the printer rather than using Canon’s website (which requires entry of the serial number, which I couldn’t locate). But I followed your instructions, and it was a breeze!

I have an iPhone 8 on iOS 16 that sees the printer at home, and an iPad with iOS 17 on the same wifi network that "can't find any AirPrint printers".  It's been this way for months and persists across device reboots and printer power cycles.  Resetting network settings on the iPad doesn't help. My printer is a Samsung M2875FD, but from other users it seems this happens with many (all?) printers.

It's hard to believe that after 6 months, Apple with all its resources hasn't been able to fix this problem.  Or hasn't tried to. This is such a fundamental level bug that it's hard to believe they didn't pick it up before release.  Maybe they are too busy trying to sell new devices to worry about existing customers. This also bothered me. Especially since my HP M477fdw has always worked fine and AirPrint has still worked fine from the MacBook and another iPhone (also on iOS 17.4.1).

I restarted the printer, restarted the iPhone. But it didn’t help.

At the end I had to reset the network settings on the non-working iPhone to be able to communicate with the HP printer again.

I wasted a lot of time and it’s bad that Apple couldn’t fix that with an iOS update or whatever the bug causes that gets fixed when resetting the settings.

Decided to try something else and changed the wireless security settings of my TP-LINK router back to WPA2(which what my old LINKSYS router was) from the WPA3 default settings of my new router, (reason I went for a new router a year ago was cause the newer WPA3).

And it all worked for almost a year happily together until Apple came out with IOS 17.

And now my old CANON MG6320 is printing again over AirPrint!!

Also is showing up in my router connection list and is still connected and able to print to after changing my router security settings back to the higher WPE3 security.

Fingers crossed it stays there longer than a day or so.....!
