I just do not get it with contact duplicates

I keep expecting Apple to bring some housekeeping tools to IOS and OSX. I just went through and manually deleted over 300 duplicate contacts. EXACT duplicates. So your engineers cannot find a way to stop this from happening? Apple creates these silly features but does not address the simple stuff. It is maddening. This is extremely common, do a search. Not a sexy feature but how can you let things like this go? Have something that consolidates exact duplicate contacts. iCloud photos suffer from the same very difficult to manage. Flickr which is decades older has had better photo management since it started. New stuff is fun why not take a close audit of how folks actually use your products and what happens after years of use!
