in IOS 16 I had an option to switch between 3G and 4G (iphone 12) but now I don't have a 3G button! But in my city, 4G works very badly, so I have to switch always. APPLE GIVE ME BACK THAT OPTION! please

I don't know where you live, but in the United States, all of the carriers got rid of their 3G networks some time ago. I also see that "All across the UK, since February, mobile networks have been winding down 3G services …"
It's possible that the carriers in your part of the world are planning to do the same, in which case having a "3G-only" preference setting on your iPhone would be pretty pointless.

Yes, because the carriers allow it. Carrier profiles are not necessarily the same across all operating systems.

When I put my sim to my old XS(ios16), same place, same carrier of course, I can still choose the 3G network.
Apple in ios17 blocked the possibility to manage that option. They confirm that information when I call to apple support.
For me that’s a hough problem because I travel a lot. In the city there is of course a 4G/5G cover. But when im driving the 4G signal and the call quality are very poor.
From my point of view as an apple user I’m very disappointed because of that. intentional blocking of the basic function of the phone.
