Command Line Tools for Xcode - Why Install?

As part of the standard updates for macOS, I am being prompted to install Command Line Tools for Xcode. Why is apple pushing all users to install these tools? I am not a developer and will not use them.

The update is appearing in my Software Updates and is being pushed as an automatic update.

Mac mini, macOS 13.5

I presume that the space occupied will not be far from what it is using now, so probably there won't be much of a difference.

By the way, if you are concerned with drive space: visit your Applications folder and make really sure that XCode is not there. If it is, then it is taking up a lot more space than the command line tools will (my XCode is over 11GB). Since you don't want it, if it is there you can drag it to the trash and reclaim that space.
