How can I change Standby mode's time zone after iOS 17 update?

I updated my iPhone 14 and was excited to use the new Stand By feature as a nightstand clock. However, I'm in New York City and the Stand By feature only shows the time in Cupertino. What I've tried:

Settings->General->Date and time: time zone is correctly set to New York and on the Lock Screen the correct time shows
World Clock: Made sure New York City is the first time shown in the list. It is.
Settings->General->Stand By: no option to change time zone here

Any ideas how to fix this? Otherwise, this feature is completely useless to me.

Hi boaster_11! If you long press the clock face while in Standby mode you'll be able to edit your widgets. Tap the clock widget you wish to update and you'll be given an option to select a city for your time zone. Hope this helps!!

Agreed. I work in IT and have had my iPhone for almost two years. I couldn’t figure this out. It needs to be a lot easier.

You mean it worked for you the second you upgraded to 17.0.3 and turned on Standby mode? The clock was set at local time not Pacific time?

No -- it was set to Cupertino, but it took me less than 5min to figure how to set this clock to EDT which I posted in the beginning of this thread when I did it.

Many thanks for taking the time to explain about changing the widget clock to a non city one. I simply chose the one that was showing London Town time.

What happens when you travel and cross time zones? You have to change the clock if it’s from a different time zone?
