Cancelling Hint App Subscription

It seems I'm not the only one who has been paying for months for the Hint app/subscription without any means to really cancel it. It's supposedly free with the option to cancel subscription at any time. Hopefully Apple will remove that app soon as it's a complete scam.

Anyways, wanted to just share what worked for me to cancel (although time will tell - I'll make sure to update here again in future on further feedback):

  1. Go to the Hint website https://hint.app
  2. Chat to the bot, follow cancel subscription prompts
  3. It may tell you (like it did with me) that you are not registered via their mobile (which I was) but rather registered via their web.  Accept it and view web prompts
  4. It will then give you a personal subscription portal link (Mine was https://hint-us.chargebeeportal.com/portal/v2/login?forward=portal_main) where you will be supplying your email address and login via an OTP.
  5. I was albe to cancel from here.  Hope the same works for you.

Good luck!

This platform is so unethical - it says 'no fine print' but the fact that customers can't simply cancel the subscription through apple apps is highly misleading because you have to go to the email that's sent to your inbox and read 'the fine print' to discover that you can only cancel it through the website via a bot. Obviously people aren't going to do this because they don't have to do it for any other app! I'm disgusted.

As soon as I read the reviews and that this is a scam I cancelled the subscription before the trial period ended (that very day to be precise) and removed the app only to find that there are charges that keep coming out of my credit card. I have tried to block these charges with the banking institution and even got a new credit card.

The website makes it extremely difficult to make contact and resolve the issue of subscription/refund and the refund policy is also absolutely ridiculous. Clearly such a scam and disgusting.

This is a complete scam! They trick customers into paying more for a true reading & interpretation, but customer receives a bunch of generic auto-generated reports that “read” your future based on your gender and where you were born. Don’t bother calling them because phones are never answered. Cancellation of whatever trial they tricked you with needs to be done through their AI system, which doesn’t work for half of the people or they still end up being charged afterwards. Customer may also be lucky enough to receive an email response to the cancellation and refund request, but it’s another generic communication that says they do not offer refunds. I’m going to dispute with my credit card.

This is a astrology app marketed mainly on Instagram it's supposed to be free for a trial and then they charge u even if u Dont want a subscription. I Didnt realize the first charged me 59cents yet it was supposed to be free. I even thought “hmm..asking for my card was weird” then today I got a charge of 19.99 thank god I Didnt have cash in my apple pay or It would have taken it and I would be in the same boat as others trying to get my money back. I let apple know I Didnt know at first what company it was till I did some research on it and recalled seeing the adds on Instagram. They are charging us up the *** for stuff u can google and get free. I checked out the website once and never thought about it again yet here it is trying to charge me for a subscription. I followed the steps above and it let me cancel i just had to sign in using my cloud email so others should try that it took me all of 2mins. Hope that helps others to cancel for good!

Absolutely terrible experience with the Hint Astrology app. They are nothing but scammers who will squeeze every penny out of you with their misleading practices. I signed up for what I thought was a free trial, only to find out I was being charged exorbitant fees without my consent. Their customer service is non-existent; I tried to reach out multiple times to resolve the issue, but never received a response. The readings themselves are generic and could apply to anyone. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this fraudulent app!

Is this app limited to Apple I.D. or IPhone owners? I have android phone and a windows laptop and tablets. I only just created an Apple I.D. so I could ask this ?. I was charged $19.99 also thru my PayPal. Which I never use bc there's never over $5 in there, but my debit card that is linked to my account is where the $19.99 came from. My PayPal is the card that automatically pops up if i accidentally click on some in a game usually w in app purchases. BUT, I cannot purchase anything using Google play store bc i receive a message saying I have to fill out a form to verify my identity. Meaning take a pic of every card in my Google pay account along w the i.d. that matches the card. Wtf. Some of them r visa gift cards my younger kids got for Xmas, or virtual visas I earned on different apps. A few used to belong to a toxic baby daddy that is incarcerated. If every request on the form isn't answered, will not allow u 2 submit. My bad I only meant to inquire ab if it was Apple exclusive app. Ty.
