AirDrop is not working after new iOS 17 update

After updating both my phone and iPad to the iOS 17, my airdrop has been giving me problems. Although my iPad can airdrop to other people’s phone it cannot airdrop to my phone. And my phone does not pick up on my iPad nor any other devices. I am not able to airdrop something from my iPad if it’s from my phone. It also automatically declines when I try to airdrop something to my phone, or my phone won’t pick it up. I’ve tried everything that has been recommended on the internet but it doesn’t seem to help.

I tried all the fixes listed here with no success. As a tech I systematically tested the problem:

First installed the latest 17.2.1. Airdrop starts to work and immediately locks up. Force quit photos, go back in, airdrop option inaccessible again.

Tried just resetting only the settings: Airdrop starts to work and immediately locks up

Tried doing a full hard reset, signed in with Apple ID but refused to do an iCloud restore. Airdrop works.

Do another full hard reset and restore Apps but customize settings: Airdrop is broken yet again

Do another hard reset and do not restore from iCloud. Manually download and reconfigure all apps. Signing in with Apple ID allows all photos and messages to sync. **Airdrop now works**

Clearly there is something causing the problem in the apps that the iCloud restore brings back.

Same issue, iPhone 15 pro with iOS 17.2.1.

I have to restart my iPhone several times till it starts working again. I share few files and it brakes again! I can't share large number of files either.

None of the solutions provided here fixed the issue :/

No iCloud, no hotspot, no cellular,... and still after 1 or 2 times using AirDrop, it either doesn't show any options!, or says the other decide has declined the resquest, or just keep waiting...

Having issues with the airdrop with my spouse. We have shared contacts and this was also quite a problematic setup with bringing devices together. And for a brief moment airdrop worked as it should. Later once i try to airdrop i cant see her in airdrop contacts. Bringing devices together does nothing other than just flashing the animation. we have tried to turn on and off phone, bluetooth, network and wifi. We have tried to turn on and of and change who sees the airdrop possibility from off to contacts only to everyone. Any way we try the airdrop does not work anymore.

It is absolutely ludicrous of Apple to think they know what a use should have when creating updates. It is extremely frustrating to rely on a feature such as AirDrop for years and then suddenly somebody at Apple decides the users should not be about to use it unless they change some esoteric setting buried deep within Settings. If Apple thinks such features should not be used, or should be changed to something else, they should make a list of recommended changes with each update and let the users decide if they want to make the change. Given the users' comments I imagine MANY hours have been wasted and frustration elevated over these sorts of changes made by Apple without consent or agreement from the user community.

I’m stil having this problem, I am on 17.2.1 now and stil airdrop is not working on my IPhone 13pro. I tried the settings and the cellular thing. This is very annoying. When you user airdrop the first time you can see someone is there, bud nothing is showing up. When you close airdrop and try to open in again it won’t open at all. You have to close you foto’s app and than it starts al over again.

Airdrop not listed in the Content & Privacy Restrictions list of Apps! Why is that?

Also been having trouble with sending photos using Messages. I’ll be in the Photos App, select photos to send via a Message, (the photos of most recently used text partners not showing any photos) when I tap on the green Messages icon, no response. Same when I tap on the AirDrop icon. No response

Usually I can go to Settings>Messages, turn off Messages. Then turn off my iPhone 15 Pro, then restart it, go back to Settings turn Messages back on, and that fixes the problem but only TEMPORARILY!
