watchos 10 charging issues

Anyone else having issues with their Apple Watch not charging or poorly charging since upgrading to WatchOS 10? I've tried a hard reset of the Apple Watch - that resolved it the first time, but back to same issue after that initial full charge. I am using the same Apple charger I have been using for the past year when I bought my Apple Watch 8. There sure seems like a WatchOS problem.

Looks like there is a feature that prevents the watch from charging to 100% to extend the life of the battery. Same feature they have on MacBooks. Mine was Stuck on 79/80%. If you look at the battery indicator you will now see a small line where it stops charging. Tap on the battery indicator and then tap on charge to 100%. You should be good to go. Hope this helps. This was a poor rollout of this new feature.

I forgot to mention in my previous rant you can likely instantly fix this by turning off the Optimized Battery Charge settings that is on by default on your watch. Here's the full link on how all this works. In my case my relatives watch went from 80% to 100% in 10 minutes after turning off this option. Ideally you would want the option on but they messed up something in WatchOS10 that reset its brains on how the option is interpreting things.

I updated my watch to 10.1 and then my battery did the same, would die pretty much while on the charger, if it even did charge it would be so slow and get to a max of 28, I contacted apple support and you would think with all of the issues people are having they would know, they told me to take it into Apple Store, I come here and see everyone else is having the same problem, I seen to delete some apps, mainly the Moby face app so I did and some more and my watch is perfect now… I did not do the master reset or anything just deleted the apps and I also turned off the optimize charge option and now it’s perfect….

Same! I traded in my series 6 after the update because it said my battery officially failed. Bought a brand new series 9 and that only charged to 70% and died within two hours. A Brand. New. Watch. Exchanged it and the next one did the same thing. Exchanged it one last time using a reset phone and the watch was fine until Mobyface was redownloaded on the watch and iPhone… then the battery drain started again. Deleted the Mobyface app from both devices and now it’s functioning perfectly.

Yes, same problem, not charging, but even when down to 38% and 10% it still won't charge on my dual iPhone-Watch charger, but continues to charge my iPhone. I've cleaned both the charger and my Watch. It was charging fine before upgrading OS.

I wonder - my dual charger has my phone being parallel with the desk. With OS10, Apple added new features to make the Watch when perpendicular to the desk have new faces, etc. So I wonder if it has to do with parallel vs. perpendicular.

When I switched to my Apple duo-travel-charger it started charging just fine.

I find it hard to believe that my other, parallel, non-Apple, duo charger, that continues to charge my iPhone has some problem that just effects Watch charging, all of a sudden after upgrading to OS10.

I can confirm that removing MobyFox from my watch seems to have corrected the charging issue. Normal charge, not over heating, wearable now a few hours without barely dropping charged percent.

I did notice that MobyFox was listed differently than other apps, others are 'remove' but MobyFox is listed as MobyFace and is not a remove but rather, it is listed as Show App on Apple Watch which is different than other apps.

But yes, removing it, charging seems to have corrected.

Apple Watch Ultra series 1 here. I updated to IOS 10.1 and suddenly most of my OEM Apple chargers from previous watches no longer charge my watch. Only the one that came with the watch works. It charges seriously slow. Also, before update I could wear my watch for 2-3 days without needing to recharge. Now my watch is dead after 3-4 hours.

I contacted Apple support and have to take the watch into the store. I saw on previous posters to delete the MobyFace app which I just did (didn’t use it anyway) I hope that works. But this is a major concern as I use my watch for business and it’s not even. Year old.

please Apple fix this problem!
