Where is the dock in watchOS 10?

What happened to DOCK, which gave me quick access to the 10 apps I selected and use most, in Watch OS 10? Also, how is pushing the side button easier or better than a quick swipe up to access the Control Panel?

So the swipe up gives you the apps, and pushing the Crown gives you the apps. Both give you the same function?

No.

  • Swipe up gives you the widget stack.
  • Pushing the crown once gives you the apps.
  • Pushing the crown twice gives you the app switcher (analogous to the Dock on previous versions).
  • Pushing the bottom below the crown brings up the Control Center.

Sadly, I think I agree with this -- especially in regards to the Mac. All that amazing power and it's being held back by Product Owners that seem more concerned with simply making it work better with your phone. This is why people (wrongly) accuse Apple devices of being toys, not tools for work. I would have preferred to see some development in the Photos app (make it a true RAW editor, like Aperture was) and Final Cut Pro (get it up to snuff so it competes with Adobe and DaVinci Resolve). And for crying all night, window tiling and fix the finder app.

This is a step backwards. WHO needs or uses the stuff they put on the dock now. I used my stem on my first watch to access my workouts and acts and the stem wore out in 2 years. Apple said they do not repair stems and just buy another watch. So l did and used my time saving dock to access my frequently used apps. Now l have to use my stem and they are just using the stem to wear out your watch faster and have to sell another watch. My next watch may be with a different company. Or start fixing stems for nothing. Give is back the dock and make it so we can add apps we want on there.

I never used the dock at all.

The digital crown is designed to be used. Will it wear out in ten years instead of 11? Perhaps. But, these are not watches designed to be passed down through the generations.

Give is back the dock and make it so we can add apps we want on there.

I would be excited if l got 10 years but getting 3 yrs is definitely not acceptable. You obviously do not use your watch as much as l do.

I have worn and userd an Apple Watch daily since the release of the first one. So, that's unlikely. I also understand perhaps more than you how electronic devices are made and tested.

Agreed. There’s nothing on the upgrade that I’m finding helpful. Losing the FAVORITES and having that quick access to them was critical for me: I have AFib and so had a bunch of heart monitoring apps which I now have to scroll through to find.

it’s not that it’s a massive problem but nothing on this upgrade I can see reduces or improves steps, and instead it’s requiring more time albeit only a few extra seconds.

Recently used apps - on the watch = do not care.

The swip up shows me junk I don’t need whereas before I used this several times per day to switch off notifications. Moving that to the side button…….waste of effort and time by Apple.

Seems counter-intuitive to me.

It makes no sense honestly. As they were QCing this no one said "wait, we're reducing customization not improving it." The more I think about this, why aren't all three buttons customizable? You should be able to click and double click the Action, Control, and Crown six different customizations. And that should definitely include If This Then That logic. That would be what the premiere smart watch on the market would do.

Is this some sort of flex on me that I don't know how Apple as an entity works?

I have no idea what that means. However, I made no assumptions about what you knew or did not know. I made a polite, constructive suggestion. A "Thanks, I already did that" would have been a sufficent response.

I was under the impression we were on a discussion board.

Did I give any indication we were not? Did I even suggest you should not post something. In fact, I thought it was rather an interesting idea. Which is why I though you should tell Apple.

Perhaps, don't assume the worst intentions of people next time.
