iPhone call history shared between devices after iOS 17 Update

on my primary device I have iCloud -> contacts turned off, also handoff is turned off on both devices.

Before iOS 17.0, each of my 2 devices has its private call log & contacts.

After iOS 17.0 on both devices, I started to see the call history of both devices on my primary device.

Since the update, I have attempted all the techniques to stop the call log from my husband's phone appearing on my phone. It is very annoying not to be able to look at your previous calls to determine who called you instantly without questioning whether the number called you or your husband. I hope that Apple listens and is able to correct whatever was turned on or at least allow us to disable call logs from other devices.

This is interesting. I remember resetting network settings on both phones in the first weeks after updating to iOS 17, but the issue came back after a few hours - or maybe the next day - anyway, it didn’t solve it.

I cannot test this now because my second phone is in a non-sync state (thanks a million to Caper1111) and I don’t want to risk syncing again, as it took me days of logging off and on in iCloud to finally get the “Some iCloud data isn’t syncing” message.

Please let us know if something changes in the following days, maybe something has changed with the latest updates.

Thank you!

Same issue I am facing. Since more than 7 years I am using same iCloud on all devices and not facing this kind of confusing! I can't see the reason behind not giving the option to allow this or not. Its really annoying and creating a headache as I have personal work and other things which should be separated. We need a quick solution for this issue as soon as possible!

It's not too smart to present works of total fiction to a Federal Judge. Especially ones that are obvious gibberish, and that the judge reads aloud in court, to show how easy it would be to see that they are gibberish!

False. We do not "all acknowledge" any such thing.

It is working as designed.

The "solution" is to change your behavior. i.e. stop sharing an ID.

Yes it’s my work phone and my personal phone. I have stopped the sync on my own, it is now working like I designed it to an actual separate phone, and has been for about a month now. Not sure why this horse is being beat to death. A temporary solution has been found, and it works well, and should be pinned at the top so people can see it before any more conversation is started by someone else.

I love that story!

My wife and I have separate ids for messaging and face time but share an id for everything else so we have a shared calendar and notes there is currently no way to separate the phone from the calendar and notes like there is with messaging. Apple needs to fix this ASAP.

There is nothing for Apple to fix. You need to stop sharing gan ID.

There are incredibly simple ways to share things like calendars and notes without sharing an Apple ID/iCloud account.

All we are asking Apple to do is to fix the phone toggle in iCloud so when it is off the call logs are not stored in iCloud.

Telling us, only users on a user to user only forum is telling Apple nothing. Use the link KiltenTim provided, but I still have extremely high doubt Apple will change this. They don't want people to share an Apple ID, period.

Actually, you may think you own the software, but you don't. You have a license to use the software on your iPhone by virtue of buying the phone. But Apple owns the software and they don't need anyones permission to do what they choose to do with their software. And before you get angry about that, remember that I'm a user, just like you're a user and only telling you how software works. None of us own the software we use, even if we pay a license right to use it.

I know about the software, it’s no different than a Vehicle purchased and the software installed in it. I am disputing the argument that apple does not want ID’s shared. IMO thats none of their business what a person does with their ID and hows its used. I dont get texts on all devices, so the call log should be the same.

The data being shared should be in control by the user. The phone log sync is no longer in control of the user like other things are.

The purpose of a user forum is to help the user discuss whats not working for them, that discussion has helped others with this topics complaint. There is a way around it, if Apple chooses not to support the user and how the user desires to setup their phone, than users will look elsewhere to get the device that works for them.

There is no argument about that. Apple has explicitly stated that everyone should have their own Apple ID.

You are absolutely entitled to that opinion. But, that doesn't mean Apple has any obligation to change how they do things.
